About this tool

Plan finder, explained

This plan finder asks six short questions and recommends one plan with the reasons behind it. It shows how a pricing quiz turns a page of options into one clear answer, using a sample set of invoicing software plans: Solo, Team and Business.

How to use it

  1. 1Answer "Who sends invoices?" and the five questions that follow, one per screen. The "Leaning towards" panel shows which plan your answers favor so far.
  2. 2Use Back, Next or the progress bar at the top to change an earlier answer.
  3. 3Read the recommended plan with its features, "How each plan fits" and "Because you said".
  4. 4Open "What matters most to you" to mark a question as Ignore, Normal, High or Key and watch the result update. Use Copy result or Copy link to share it.

How it works

How the recommendation is made

Every answer gives points to one or more plans. In this sample, "Just me" and "Under 20" invoices each give 2 points to Solo, "A small team" and "20 to 200" give 2 to Team, and "Several teams" and "More than 200" give 2 to Business. The other questions cover the accountant, recurring billing, the number of companies you invoice from and approvals. Invoicing from more than three companies, for example, gives 3 points to Business.

Each question's points are multiplied by its importance: Ignore counts 0, Normal 1, High 2 and Key 3. Every question starts at Normal. After the last question, the plan with the most points is recommended. When two plans tie, the first one in the list wins, which is the cheapest, and the result says so. The result never depends on chance, so the same answers always give the same plan.

The bars show each plan's share of all the points, and "Because you said" lists up to three answers that gave the most points to the recommended plan.

Points of a plan = sum of (points from each answer × importance of that question)

When to use it

Ways people use it

  • Simplify a pricing page

Put the quiz above the plan table for visitors who are not sure which column applies to them.

  • Reduce sales questions

Answer the common question of which plan to pick before it reaches your support or sales inbox, with the reasons spelled out.

  • Guide service packages

The same logic works for insurance, care plans, memberships or any offer with a few tiers.

  • Learn what visitors need

The answers people give tell you which team sizes, volumes and setups your audience has.

FAQ

Questions people ask

How do I choose the right software plan?

Start from how you will use the product: how many people need access, how much volume you expect and which features you need now. Pick the smallest plan that covers today's use, and check how easy it is to upgrade later.

Should I pay monthly or annually?

Annual billing often comes with a discount, but it commits you for a year. Monthly billing costs more over time and lets you change plans or cancel quickly, which suits you better while you are still testing a product.

What is a pricing quiz?

A pricing quiz is a short set of questions on a pricing page that recommends a plan based on the visitor's answers. It helps people who do not want to compare every feature line by line.

Can I make one question count more than the others?

Yes. After the result, open "What matters most to you" and set each question to Ignore, Normal, High or Key. Its points are multiplied by 0, 1, 2 or 3, and the recommendation is recalculated straight away.

What happens if my answers fit two plans equally?

In this plan finder, a tie goes to the first plan in the list, which is the cheapest, and the result tells you it was a tie. Starting on a smaller plan is usually easy to change later.
